In a 2065 ravaged by climate collapse and global conflict, the NeuralWeb implant has reshaped the UK economy, spawning a super-elite, the Connected, now in charge of the country’s infrastructure.

 

After uncovering his business partner’s corruption, Synacorp co-founder Dan Newmark attempts to expose the truth. Instead, he inadvertently awakens the Many: a group mind that hijacks the Connected and their assets, including Dan’s mind and body.

 

With her husband subsumed and law and order collapsing, Dan’s wife Moira flees London with their autistic son Elliot and a ragtag band of survivors. As the group pushes north, the Many tightens its grip, cutting the power to the Unconnected, eliminating organised resistance and forcibly implanting selected targets, with Moira top of the list.

 

All Moira wants is to reunite her family. The Many wants that too, only not as free individuals but ‘cells’ within the group mind. The struggle for control of the Newmarks could determine not just their own fates but the next stage of human evolution.
